A devotion from World Concern’s Salt and Light: A Prayerful Journey
These precious children live deep in the mountains of Laos, their village hours away from anything. Each day they battle with poor nutrition, a lack of clean water, and the threat of disease.
And yet they’re smiling and happy. This is the power of hope.
Ever since World Concern started working in these villages, communities have been radically transformed behind initiatives that bring clean water, nutrition, good hygiene, education, and livelihood opportunities to moms, dads, and little ones.
“Because we eat good food and drink clean water and keep our community clean, we are much healthier than before!” says a thankful mom.
In these villages and beyond, World Concern plows the ground, waters the seed, and loves because we were loved first.
For through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness.” Galatians 5:5
A Time to Reflect
Do you ever find yourself waiting? We wait in long checkout lines, for holidays, and for family to arrive. It can be challenging sometimes! It helps to stop and understand that waiting and faith go hand-in-hand. In our culture of quick downloads, fast food, and instant gratification, it’s easy to get bothered when we have to wait.
Yet God finds ways of allowing us to wait to remind us that He is in control. Remember, He will always keep His promises to us, but not in our time … in His.
Take a moment to reflect on what you’re waiting for, remembering that God’s timing is perfect!
A Prayer for Today
Lord, thank you for keeping your promises to us. Help me to remember your ways are greater and higher than what I can ask or imagine. Your timing is perfect, even when I cannot see all you have in store for me. Fill me with your peace that I may have hope for the future, knowing you hold me in the palm of your hands.
